Thiefing Parang Band

This one is so funny!  Many years ago, in Trinidad and Tobag, parang bands would visit almost every house in their neighbourhood and serenade the family.  As a token of appreciation, the family would serve drinks and eats.  This video is about a parang group visiting a lady's home and while they were serenading they were stealing the lady's pocessions!

Jingle Bells

I hope you enjoy this one of a small steel pan group playing Jingle Bells on the streets of (looks like) London.

Ay Ay Maria

This song (composed of parang and soco music) was originally sung by Singing Francine of Trinidad and Tobago.  This parang group, Los Amigos (also of Trinidad & Tobago), was paying tribute to her by singing this song.

Anita

We are now in the christmas season and traditionally in Trinidad, there are alot of parang competitions and concerts around this time of the year.

Trinidad and Tobago is very close to Venezuela and they also have this parang culture.  Parang is mostly sung in Spanish.
Some calypsians sing what we call a soca parang (of course a mixture of soca music and parang music).  I am unable to find many videos of these songs.  My goals is to post one each day until the end of the christmas season.  Lets see how that goes.

Hot, Hot Hot

Arrow is from Monsterrat and this song has been a hit internationally for many years.  It is still been used by various musicians world wide.
